Configuring Mega Millions for New 1-56 and 1-46 Game

When California joins the Mega Millions Game, the ball numbers will change from a main pool of 1-52 to 1-56 and the Mega Ball pool will change from 1-52 to 1-46.

This page explains what you need to do to play the new game depending on which program you have.

If you are using UltraLott WASHINGTON or UltraLott Powerball and Mega Millions you should upgrade.

If you are using the latest version of UltraLott CALIFORNIA, GEORGIA, ILLINOIS, MARYLAND, MASSACHUSETTS, MICHIGAN, NEW JERSEY, NEW YORK, OHIO, TEXAS, or VIRGINIA you can either upgrade or do the following:

  • Make sure you have checked all your entries for the old game. This is important because the results and entry files will be removed.

  • Go to File > Configure Game > Mega Millions.

  • Change the Number of main balls in pool from 52 to 56
  • Change the Number of bonus balls in bonus ball pool from 52 to 46
  • DO NOT change ANY other setting on the above screen.
  • Click Save Game Definition button

  • Click the Yes button
  • Select Winning Combinations tab

  • Click on the Save Winning Lines button
  • Select Draw Days tab and click the Save Draw Days button
  • Select Preferences tab and click the Save Preferences button (note there is no confirmation for this button).
  • Click on the Exit button
  • Close the lottery program and restart it. The new game will now be configured.
